The Cliff Notes:
Hello! My name is Greg Hickman. Welcome to my personal blog. Here you’ll be sure to find my ramblings discussing thoughts on the mobile marketing industry. I’ll discuss strategy, news, provide insights and share my experiences starting a mobile marketing agency. I’ll also share stories from my life in Denver, Colorado, consulting endeavors, my mountain bike racing on Team RMR, road biking through the rockies, skiing all over, livin’ life and just stories about how I keep on keepin’ on.
The Novel:
Born and raise in New Jersey, the Garden State yet you probably won’t hear an accent. I also don’t flaunt “my new haircut”. That d-bag was from Long Island. NJ is where I’m from and it’s the home of my loving family and some of my closest friends and possibly the greatest deli sandwich known to man. I know that’s aggressive but I don’t care if you think your sandwich is better…it’s not.
I went to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. If you’ve never been you have to check it out. Amazing town, great bars and restaurants and of course the race track and the performing arts center. Skidmore was a great part of my life. I was lucky enough to have met some of my closest friends while at Skidmore, played some lacrosse and did a bunch of biking both road and mountain in and around the beautiful Adirondacks.
Post college, I ended up in Connecticut for way longer than I had planned. Four years later I had worked for two marketing agencies building out my resume and experience on brands such as Pepsi, Lipton, Walmart, 7-11, AT&T, The New York Jets, American Express and many more. A part of me wanted to move to NYC but I’m so thankful I never landed there because that city is just not my style.
August of 2008 I moved to Colorado and it might be one of the greatest things that has happened to me. Denver is a great city and Boulder (30 mins away) is rad. Mountain biking, road biking, hiking, skiing and just being active and outside is so common here. When asked “what do you do?” most people here list the things they love doing before even getting to their job title or the company they work for. The mentality and lifestyle is refreshing and people are full of life. Something I think many lacked on the east coast trapped in the concrete jungle. To each his own…
So what now? Well, now I’m living life in between jobs looking for new opportunities and meeting amazing people. If I’m not actively networking or discussing new business ideas you’ll find me on one of my 3 (soon to be 4) bikes either out on the road or in the mountain. If I’m not there I’m spending some quality time with any of the amazing people I’ve been lucky enough to meet here. Wherever you find me, good chances you’ll find my dog, Koda. She’s a beautiful brindle boxer that I’ll confidently say is the most calm boxer of all time.
So…that’s pretty much all I got for now. I constantly try to keep on hustlin’ to learn more, meet new people and experience new adventures. I appreciate you taking the time to learn a little bit more about me and I would love to learn more about you. Drop me a line whenever, however you see fit. I’d love to chat, discuss business opportunities, job opportunities or anything else that comes up!
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the stories.
Cheers,
Greg
